The Ugly Puss

I have had many experiences on my journey of life as a child and today I want to share with you the story of the ugly puss. I was only 10 years old and very proud of myself; I won the prize for knowing the most Bible verse in Sunday school for the year. It was Convention Sunday and the Sunday school president called me to come and collect my prize. I remember there were three gift boxes on the table nicely wrapped in beautiful gift paper. Because I won the first prize I was given the opportunity to choose whichever box I wanted. I thought to myself, let me not think too highly of myself and not take the biggest box. So I grabbed the smallest box. As I picked up the box I recall the pastor saying “you are a smart girl, good things come in small packages.” I was extremely excited when he said that because I knew it had to be something good.   I took my prize and went to my seat. I could hardly wait to run home to open the box. After church I rushed home, but as eager as I was

You Are Still Valuable

Have you ever felt like you are an outcast, or wonder what the hell is going on with you? Have your friends ever looked at you and tell you “you got issues.” If either of the above rings close to home then you are in great company. Let me help you out, we all got issues. Yes, all of us struggle with something that qualifies as “issues.” Whether rich or poor, we all have issues. So, go ahead take a deep breath and relax, because in spite of all your issues you are still valuable in the eyes of God. You might ask how can a messed-up person like me be valuable? Simple, it is not what you do or don’t qualifies you, but the mere fact that you were created in the image and likeness of God. David, one of the most messed up man ever to live God said of him; he is a man after my own heart. David an anointed man of God and king, was a murderer, fornicator and a hothead. God declared that the sword would never depart from his house because of his murderous acts. His life was so fille

Letting Go To Dream Again

Hurt and offense can cause you to miss out on the things that God has in store for you. They can cause you to miss opportunities in life for growth. A hurting and offended heart closes down and shut out everything and everyone as a safety mechanism. It shuts others out to protect itself from more hurt, yet at the same time isolates the person. Sometimes resulting in separation from God. Though it is imperative for one to guard his/her heart you must be careful not to shut out those around you who were designed to help you on your life’s journey. Bear in mind that there are some people who can only go thus far with you. In other words, some people are in your life for a season. You must know what role they play and not carry them into the next season of your life.  Taking people further than they need to go with you can result in you or the individual becoming frustrated, angry, and resentful. If someone is out of place in your life, it will cause more harm than good. Learn

Recognizing a Need for Change

So, you woke up this morning as you have every other morning (by the grace of God) and as you head to the bathroom you glimpse yourself in the dresser mirror, but had to take a step back for another look because you didn’t recognize the person in the mirror. With a daunting look on your face and tears in your eyes, it dawns on you; something has to change. You say to yourself “I can’t keep living my life this way.”  If you are ready for change or a brand-new start on life but don’t know how? I am giving you three simple steps to take towards the road of change. Let me encourage you today, you are already on your way to making changes. Yes, that’s right; your initial step towards change is identifying a need for change. When you made that conscious decision to examine your current situation and recognize that things can be different, change has begun. Change the way you think. The first step in bringing change to one’s life is to change the way you think of yourself and h

The Perfect Time

Are you one of those people who is always waiting for the perfect time to do something? Let me let you in on a little secret. There is never a perfect time. Yep, that's right. I use to believe that there had to be a perfect time for me to do what I wanted to do. After years of sitting and waiting for the perfect time to accomplish my goals I realized that the people around me were out accomplish their goals because they decided to do something. I was still in the same place accomplishing nothing. As a Christian I believe that God orders our steps, however, we must keep stepping for Him to order our steps. God is not going to map out a path for you to walk on if you are not taking steps. A path can only be created when a place is walked upon.  It is never a perfect time to accomplish your goals you just have to take one step at a time and you will see the results. Stop thinking about your goals and start doing the work to accomplish them. My advice to anyone thinking about

Stay in the Know

Today I am sharing with you essentials for growth and success. Personal Development is essential in being successful in life. It is imperative that you find ways to develop your skills and increase your knowledge. You must know your craft, your art and stick to it. Precisely speaking, know what you are good at and do it well. Always find ways to develop your skills and increase your knowledge. In today’s world of technology, the traditional scope of being informed has changed dramatically. A few years ago, one would have to enroll in an educational institution to acquire certain skills or knowledge in any industry, however, today with just the click of a button you can access information across the globe in various forms such as: eBooks, videos, mp3, apps, articles, and webinars. Forthrightly, if you are serious about what you do and want to improve your skill set and knowledge base it can be accomplished at little or no cost to you if you are willing to invest the time. I

Never Look on Your Limitations

Stay focus on your abilities rather than your inabilities. Staying focus on your capabilities is an important factor in becoming successful in life. You must remain focus on what you have. N ever look on your limitations . Instead of focusing on the “ have nots ” focus on the things you have and can do. Let what you have work for you.   Every day I use the knowledge I have acquired to maintain success in my purpose. If I was to focus on all the “have nots” in life I would not be writing to encourage you today. I have discovered a greater joy in using what I have to help others instead of focusing on what I do not have or cannot do. I put my trust in God to accomplish my purpose, knowing that with Him there are no limitations. Don’t limit your possibilities of being successful because you don’t think you have anything of value. God has given each of us a gift, it is our ability to influence others. There are no limits to your success when you know your scope of influence

Meditate on Words that Bring Life.

H ow you think about life results in the quality of life you live. Your thoughts are important, so meditate on words that bring life. In spite of all the obstacles I have faced in my life, one of the things that have kept me going are these words the Lord spoke to me when I was much younger “you have creative power within you, and everything you touch will prosper.” These words have been my guide in my ups and downs. I held on to these words as truth and life. I believe everything God has spoken to me and I know His words will never return void. I choose to meditate on words which bring life.  As a Christian I choose to meditate on the words of God. I also listen to godly-men and woman who are leading successful lives based on biblical principles. I read books and listen to audio messages which fosters positive encouragements and personal developments. I also write my own affirmations and speak positive things over myself at times. Most times than other

DON'T WAKE THE BEAST!

My mom had a way of conveying here wisdom in such a way that would make you laugh and think at the same time.  When things weren't going well or she heard of a problem between two people she would often say; "When you find your head in a lion's mouth take your time and draw it out." What she meant was that a lion is a fierce beast, but when he is sleeping he is harmless as a dove. If you are having problem with someone don't get angry and stir anger in the person because you might not be able to escape the fierceness of his or her wrath. Next time you find yourself in a dispute with someone and feel the need to get angry, remember not to wake the beast. It is best to keep calm and walk away than to wake the lion within the person and get devoured.  Proverbs 15:1 - A soft answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.
