CHURCH PEOPLE...                              Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by the faith in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. - Galatians 2:16 (NKJV) Christians have been generalized as " church people " for many different reasons; some based on personal experience in church, some because of what they have heard, and others just because they are ungodly and don't see the need for a Savior. Even Christians have referred to each other as "church people." I am not bothered when people generalize us Christians with the "church people" label. We have heard it all; "church people" are ____________ ( you can fill in the blank ). The natural eyes cannot discern the things of God (1 Corinthians 2:14), therefore it would be foolish for us as true believers to
RECLAIMING OUR COMMUNITY I wrote this article over five years ago and I believe revisiting it is appropriate in light of what we are facing these days. When we think about the condition of our communities; we need to understand we are not just fighting against guns and gang violence, but against spiritual wickedness in high places.  In order to reclaim our community we must first recognize the source of the problem, confront the problem, and then conquer the problem. Recognize—Confront—Conquer THE WAR AGAINST VIOLENCE This war against violence is not just a physical one; it is also a spiritual war.  In the physical realm we need to bond together and say no longer will we allow the violence to take over our community. It will take everyone corporation. On the spiritual aspect of the war we need to understand that our fight is not against the gang members but against the spirit of murder that is driving our young people (friends & family) to violence.  The only way
A God Who Cares “For I Know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11 We have read this passage of scripture many times, quoted it, meditated on it and declared, however, we have overlooked a very important factor which makes the word of God powerful. This is the word of the Lord by the prophet Jeremiah to the children of Israel who were carried away captive by King Nebuchadnezzar into Babylon. God promised that He would deliver them but until that day comes; they should build houses, plant gardens, get married and have children, and increase in the land of their captivity. He also told them to pray for the peace of the city they dwelt in, for when there is peace in the land they will have peace (Jeremiah 29:4-10). God basically told them to make the best of their situation. They should not weep and mourn but rejoice in Him and seek Him because there will come a day of deliveran
You Are Called You are called for a purpose! Surely it is nothing new to you! It is something you have heard for the um-teen time. So why am I wasting my time telling you this? Simply because I want you to not just know it but believe it until you see the full manifestation of your purpose. As the apostle Paul said in his letter to the Philippians "...for me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe." Philippians 3:1. So bear with me a moment as I take the time to exhort you once more that you are called for a purpose. Because you are called for a purpose everything will work out for you. But in order for you to fulfill that purpose you must remain connected.  The Bible declares that God has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).  He has called you. He wants you to no longer live in darkness, Romans 12:2 declare that you are not to conform to the ways of the world but to be transformed by the renewing of

Sticks and Stones Part 2- Identifying Generational Curses

Have you ever evaluated your life and made note of all that God has gifted you with; talents and abilities that are natural to you but a struggle to others yet you can't seem to make a head way in life. Could it be that you are living under a curse, more specifically a generational curse.  A curse that has been following your bloodline for generations. I'm not saying all out life's struggles are a result of a generational curse or any other curse but there are specific struggles in our lives that are directly linked to generational curses.  These struggles cannot be overcome unless we can identify their root and deal with them accordingly. There are actions that were taken by our fore parents or parents which opened a door for the enemy to take a foot hold. You have to identify the destructive pattern or cycle that has been familiar to your family line. As I evaluate my life I have identified a few things that have been plaguing my family. I have identified a patte
